ドライバの追加インストール

後から拡張カードを追加して、ドライバをインストールする場合の手法。

目的

• X4447A-Z（SunのQuad Gigabit Ethernetカード）を追加して、ESXiに認識させる。

手順

• VMware-vSphere-CLI（コマンドラインツール）の入手とインストール
  • http://www.vmware.com/support/developer/vcli/
    • ESXiのバージョンにあったものを入手すること。
• X4447A-Z用のnxgeドライバの入手
  • http://www.vmware.com/support/vsphere4/doc/drivercd/esx-net-nxge_400.1.0.2.3.html
• vmware-esx-drivers-net-nxgeのISOをマウントして、nxge-vmware-driver-1-0-2-3-offlinebundle-249974.zipをコピー。 * 一般に、ドライバCDの中のofflinebundleと書かれたzipを使用してインストールを行うとか。
• コピーしたファイルをC:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware vSphere CLI\binに置く。
  • 適当にリネームしてもいい。
• コマンドプロンプトで、以下のコマンドを叩いてインストール。<code> C:>cd C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware vSphere CLI\bin C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware vSphere CLI\bin>.\vihostupdate.pl –server 192.168.1.22 –install –bundle nxge-vmware-driver-1-0-2-3-offline_bundle-249974.zip Enter username: root Enter password: The update completed successfully, but the system needs to be rebooted for the changes to be effective. </code>
  • ※ESXi 4.0用に作られたzipをESXi 4.1に適応しようとした場合、以下のようにエラーが出ます。
  • <code> C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware vSphere CLI\bin>.\vihostupdate.pl –server 192.168.122.21 –install –bundle nxge-v mware-driver-1-0-2-3-offline_bundle-249974.zip Enter username: root Enter password: Please wait patch installation is in progress … No matching bulletin or VIB was found in the metadata.No bulletins for this platform could be found. Nothing to do. </code>
  • この場合、vmware.xmlを書き換えて回避する。

  • 今回（X4447A-Z）の場合は、下記2行のversionを“4.0.0”から“4.1.0”に書き換えたらOKでした。

    • <swPlatform locale=“” productLineID=“embeddedEsx” version=“4.1.0” />
